_IN A WORLD FULL OF PAIN, SUFFERING, HUNGER AND DEATH
.... They Wait.....Still Craving Human Love and Affection 04/09/2011


Kindness above all is the real proof that there may be Hope for the Human Race.

The Animals of this Earth are at the Mercy of their Human caretakers. They are unaware of politics, religion, and borders.  They live in the moment.  Yes, they have memories.. very good memories...better than Humans in many cases.  They remember the smallest of details surrounding them in 'their world'. They can recognize another animal, or even a human, even if they met once..long ago. They can recall the simplest of kind gestures offered to them .  Of course they also remember pain, suffering, loneliness and feeling lost.  They remember when they had a warm bed, enough food to eat, gentle humans who spoke softly and petted them each time they came near. They also remember harsh words, physical abuse and angry faces. They are resilient.  It is doubtful any Human would be so forgiving if they were abandoned, starved, and tortured to the brink of death. Yet, animals seem to have more courage, more strength, more Spirit in their non-human bodies than we do.

All animals ... from the smallest to the largest.. fur, fin, feathers or scales... all deserve kindness, respect, care and a safe place in this world. From our pets.. Dogs, Cats, Bunnies and Birds.. to Horses, Goats, Cows & Chickens..from Fish and Frogs to Alligators, all are living, breathing, 'feeling' creatures. They FEEL, they THINK, they COMMUNICATE.  They are NOT Things!

Before Art, before Creativity, before my first recollection of human interaction (outside of my parents) I felt an innate connection to animals. As a child, I loved them, I studied them, I wanted them.  They represented Joy, Freedom, Warmth and Love... even a little girl knows that Animals a special. They belong here on this planet, they are 'part' of this planet, the same as we humans.  They are as important to the well-being and survival of this planet as humans.  They were here 'before' humans. Yes, we may be more technologically advanced, we may be smarter (in human ways), we may change and control our environment, when the Animals live in harmony with theirs.  But we are not Superior, they are not Lesser than.  We are equal in the circle of life on this Earth. We, as Humans need to acknowledge that fact.  Everyone speaks of being Kind to our fellow man, being charitable, being protective, being generous.... but it's  time we direct those same 'good' human qualities toward our Animal companions.  They are family......
